Lewiston RFP for Downtown Transformation Plan 

The City of Lewiston Maine (“City”) and Community Concepts, Inc.. (“CCI”) jointly have been awarded a FY2017 HUD Choice Neighborhoods Planning and Action Grant (“Choice”) to 1) develop a Transformation Plan (“Plan”) for the revitalization of the approximately 16 square block Tree Streets section of the Downtown Lewiston neighborhood and for the mixed-income replacement of the 41-unit FHA-assisted Maple Knoll Apartments located therein, and 2) plan and implement $1 million in Action Activities to jump-start that Plan. City is seeking proposals from qualified neighborhood planning, urban design, and landscape architecture firms to provide a specific scope of support to a collaborative planning process already underway in Lewiston to create that Plan.

Planner, City of Saco  

The Position

The City of Saco, one of Maine’s fastest growing cities, seeks an exceptional planner to serve as the City Planner.  This position is an excellent opportunity to join a fantastic team to make a difference in an organization and city constantly seeking ways to provide best-in-class services to a fast-growing community. 

The City Planner reviews development projects for compliance with municipal land codes, standards, and design guidelines; answers general citizen inquiries; and acts as the primary liaison to the Planning Board. The person filling this position will assist in guiding or assisting various types of planning projects, such as comprehensive planning and implementation, transportation projects, and adding or updating zoning and ordinance amendments.

The Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in community planning or a related field and three to five (3-5) years of experience in a professional planning or economic development position OR a Master’s degree in Public Policy, Planning, Business, Economics or a related field and one to two (1-2) years in a professional planning or economic development position. The ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and work independently on daily functions is a must, as is honesty and integrity.  AICP certification is desired.
