February 3, 2012 - MAP General Membership Meeting

The MAP general membership meeting is rescheduled for Friday, February 3, 2012 from 10:30 to 2:30 at the Gardiner Public Library in the Hazzard Meeting Room. The library is located at 152 Water Street, Gardiner, ME 04345. Lunch is provided.

All MAP members are invited to participate. An important part of the meeting is discussing the legislative session just underway in Augusta. The Legislative and Policy Committee (LPC) will update members about proposed legislation impacting planners in Maine. Some important issues include a new Takings bill and efforts to dismantle the State Planning Office, restructure the Land Use Regulation Commission, and modify significant environmental laws among others.  The LPC is hoping to recruit a few planners to volunteer with tracking legislation and writing and/or delivering testimony. Please consider helping out during this legislative session.

Another part of the GMM is a presentation by a small group of MAP members investigating ways to use technologies like Facebook and Google to improve communication among members and non-members. And, of course, all members are encouraged to participate and offer suggestions and feedback about ways to improve MAP.

The technologies demo/discussion will start at 11 am.
Lunch will be provided at noon.
The LPC presentation/discussion will begin between 12:15 and 12:30.

Please let Kris Hultgren (khultgren@brunswickme.org) or Stacy Benjamin (sbenjamin@mainecollaborativeplanning.com) know by the afternoon of Wednesday February 1st if you plan to attend, so we can make sure you have a lunch.

The Legislative Policy Committee will meet via conference call on Tuesday, January 31 at noon to discuss its work for this legislative session. Please consider joining the LPC. If you are interested please email Stacy Benjamin sbenjamin@mainecollaborativeplanning.com or Kris Hultgren khultgren@brunswickme.org.
