Attending: Matt Nazar, David Galbraith, Richard Roedner, Jim Fisher, Noel Musson, Hugh Cox, Fred Marshall, Maureen O'Meara.

I. Recap of MMA Annual Conference

Stop

·        Scheduling snafu - should not be held at the same time as similar topics

·        Way in which points were being made – confrontation rather than dialogue.

Start

·        Explore collaboration with MCDA at MMA

·        Look for other groups with whom we can cosponsor

·        Contact Ed Tobin - Call and ask him to provide a column for our newsletter

·        Shared responsibility - more than one person makes the arrangements

·        Have a meeting with MMA in August to coordinate the event

·        Negotiate prices for attendees

·        Be sure that our speakers get in!

·        Promotion - is cost an issue?  How else can we communicate to members?

·        Encourage towns to send their planners.

·        stronger moderator role during discussion

Maureen - should there be a note in the next newsletter?  Maureen is willing to include the article as being "from the editor on professional courtesy"

IV. Membership - 75 members plus 9

·        Kathy Fuller – raised the issue of membership renewals – same old problem of when do you pay and when do you have to pay again. 

V. Newsletter

·        Strategic Plan - new plan will be in the newsletter

·        Matt will send an article about membership and the new fiscal year

·        Legislative and Policy Committee - Jim will ask Ann what is going on.

·        next deadline - January 24th

VI. Amicus Brief

·        looking for someone to write the brief.  Jensen Baird may file a brief.  Noel can talk with a lawyer who works with Jensen Baird.

·        Maureen has a document on the Dunston Corner decision and will email it to Rich for follow up.

·        Noel - MAP may need to have a discussion about basic principles.  May need to look at our strategic plan and other documents.  MAP should be bold, but cannot do so when we don't have a shared vision.

VII. Announcements

·        Hugh Cox- Lecture series on "Changing Maine" at USM Muskie School

·        Jim will link MAP Web site to this.
