Maine Association of Planners Executive Board Meeting Minutes

Board Members Present: Jon Lockman, Rodney Lynch, Sarah Flaks, Theresa Oleksiw, Doug Webster and Jim Fisher

Absent: Matt Nazar, David Schmidt, Jean Marshall and Fred Marshall

Meeting open by President Jon Lockman at 12:15 PM

Secretary’s Report

Moved and seconded to approve the December 8, 2000 Meeting minutes. Passed

Treasurer’s Report: No Treasurer’s Report

President’s Report

Legislative Policy Committee: It was the consensus of the Board to ask Chris Hauck, John Maloney and Lejay Feldman to serve on the Legislative Policy Committee because they are close to Augusta.

Access Management Rule Making: The final hearing on the MDOT rules will be held in March.

June 2001 Annual Meeting

The annual meeting will be held on Friday June 15, 2001 at the Spruce Point Inn in Boothbay Harbor. The guest presenter will be Randall Arndt from the National Land Trust. He will speak on conservation subdivisions for approximately three hours. His presentation will be preceded by the Business Meeting at 8:30am, and followed by lunch and the awards and a boat ride. It anticipated that charge for food, set up and rental will be $1,700 and the cost of travel and lodging for the speaker will be $1,300-$1,500. At the next meeting on April 6, 2001 the program will be brought together and finalized.

It was the consensus of the Board that MAP Award recipients would have their names submitted for NNECAP awards as well, and the MAP student award would be for the USM graduate student program only.

Sarah Flaks and Theresa Oleksiw will serve on the Nominating Committee for the Election of officers and members of the Executive Board for 2001-2002.

NNECAPA Maine Conference

The NNECAPA Conference will be held on September 12, 13 & 14, 2001 at the Eastland in Portland. The Conference Planning Committee has been meeting monthly and is now in the process of narrowing down the topics down to 11-13 sessions.

Moved by Jon Lockman to offer $350 to NNECAPA to expend as they see fit to help defray the cost of USM Students to attend the Fall Conference in Portland

and to offer an additional $150 to assist any other student from another college campus to attend the Fall Conference and if the funds are not used then they are to be returned to MAP. Seconded by Theresa Oleksiw . Passed.

The next meeting will be held on Friday April 6, 2001 at MDOT in Augusta.
