JOB ANNOUNCEMENT TITLE: Planner Technician The City of Laconia located in the Scenic Lakes Region of New Hampshire is seeking candidates to perform a variety of administrative and technical work in current and long range planning. The City of Laconia is seeking an individual to perform administrative and technical work associated with enforcement of land use and conservation related regulations. The position will assist the Planning Director and Assistant Planner in conservation review of applications as well as act as a liaison to the Conservation Commission. Field Work and night meetings are required. Position description and applications are available in the Finance Office. Eastern Maine Development Corporation, in conjunction with the Penobscot Valley Council of Governments (PVCOG), is seeking candidates for a Planner position. Duties include coordinating comprehensive planning for municipalities, providing planning assistance to local government officials in subjects such as land use, housing, transportation, community facilities, and recreation, preparation of special planning studies and oversight of state contracts. The position requires significant public interaction with local and state officials through presentations, one-on-one meetings, and training. Candidates should be able to work effectively and understand the needs of municipal governments and be able to interface with local and regional stakeholders in the interests of meeting the needs of the PVCOG region. The position requires experience in long-range community planning. Masters degree in land use planning or related field preferred. Direct experience with local governments preferred. Knowledge of the concepts, theories, principles, and practices of planning and economic development at the regional and local level. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
